Barley origination is based on our distributors\u2019 direct hiring in different parts of our country that take up several departments: Colonia, San Jos\u00e9, Flores, Florida, Soriano and Rio Negro.<\/h2>\n[\/split_line_heading][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1585685926321{padding-right: 10% !important;}”]MOSA is currently using an IT system that comprises georeferencing and an online database. This allows us to track every hired farm as well as the tasks developed there. This way, it is possible to assure the traceability and quality of the barley that will be entering the industrial process. The Malting Barely Program\u2019s main objective is to develop spring barley varieties with prime malting and agronomic quality. The agronomic behaviour characterization of each cultivar takes into account their performance, adaptability to a variety of environments and resistance to disease[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”top-bottom” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” column_link_target=”_self” width=”1\/2″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” overlay_strength=”0.3″ column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none” enable_animation=”true” animation=”fade-in-from-bottom” delay=”100″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1585686069811{padding-right: 10% !important;}”]This agronomic selection is complemented by a Malting Quality selection. Data for such purpose is collected by malting small quantities of grain in our micro malting plant, which considerably shortens the selection process.<\/p>\n

In addition, MOSA\u2019s Malting Breeding Program and its Agricultural and Industrial Area have been members of the National Board of Malting Barley Entities (MNECC) since 1992.<\/p>\n

The Board is composed by the National Research Institute for Agriculture (INIA), the University of the Republic,\u00a0Agronomy School, (FAGRO), the Technological Laboratory of Uruguay (LATU), LATITUD (LATU\u00b4s Foundation), the National Seed Institute (INASE) and the malting companies.
