The Malting Breeding Program evaluates and promotes different genetic origins in order to meet the industry’s quality demands. Germoplasm origin will define the agronomic and malting performance. As a consequence, each variety’s attributes and the way they complement each other need to be taken into account with the aim of achieving the product’s final quality.
Malting quality European Varieties:
- High Fine Extract
- Low viscosity
- Low turbidity
- High Soluble nitrogen
- Good FAN´s level
- Low Betaglucans´s level
Malting quality local varieties:
- Low-intermediate viscosity
- Good Kolbach´s Index level
- Good Soluble nitrogen level
- Intermediate colour
